Duo Paradis - 'Baroque 'n' Roll'

 

Sunday, 13th April, 2014

 

 A programme of Baroque masterpieces from the 1700's, including Bach: Sonata for Viola da Gamba no.3 in G minor and Vivaldi: Cello Sonata in Bb major, together with Rock favourites from the 1970s. An unlikely but highly successful musical combination! That went down a storm in the

Town Hall, Midsomer Norton.

Duo Paradis perform Swans & Songs, with musical swans such as Saint-Saens' Le cygne and Villa-Lobos' The Black Swan, songs, including Faure's Berceuse, swan songs such as Mendelssohn's Song Without Words and Das Fischermadchen from Schubert's Schwanengesang, and a couple of Flanders & Swann songs...

Emily Mullins - Harp

Emily has played with the CBSO, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Orchestra of the Swan, as well and many regional orchestras. She will play collection of varied pieces in all styles, some familiar, some less well-known.  Home-made cakes, and tea & coffee on sale.

Songs from the Shows

 

Jenny Peplow (soprano) and Jacquelyn Bevan (piano) perform a variety of songs from well-loved musicals, including Les Miserables, The King & I, The Sound of Music and South Pacific.  Jenny, well-known as the director of the award-winning Jenny Peplow Singers, is a versatile and talented solo performer and returns to Bloomfield by popular demand. Concert for residents and their friends and families.

Jane Finch (oboe), Martin Gatt (bassoon) & Jacquelyn Bevan (piano) perform Reinecke: Trio in A minor, Schumann Fantaisiestucke 1&2,, Poulenc: slow movement from Trio Madeleine Dring, 3rd movement from Trio, Frank Bridge Miniatures and delightful folk-song arrangements by Roger Quilter, together with perennial favourites, such as Gabriel's Oboe.  Home-made cakes, and tea & coffee on sale.
