The 20th Century Clarinet

Neil Moore (clarinet) & Jacquelyn Bevan (piano) perform 20th century music, in partiular jazz-inspired works: including Finzi's Bagatelles, Alex Templeton's Pocket Sonata no.1, movements from Horovitz Sonatina, and piano works by Madeleine Dring.  Coffee and home-made cakes on sale from 10am. Mendip Trio

The 'girls' from the Mendip Ensemble: Carole Jenner-Timms (flute), Penny Birnstingl (bassoon) & Jacquelyn Bevan (piano) perform a programme of music for winds and piano, including Damase Sonate en Trio, Handel Flute Sonata in F and works by Milde and Donizetti. Paradis Palm Court Trio : Music on the Levels Family Concert

Music at The Lawrence Centre

Rupert Bevan (tenor) and Jacquelyn Bevan (piano) will give a concert of favourite solos including Ave Maria, If with all your hearts, Green Hills of Somerset, Panis Angelicus and more... with recollections of life in a large musical family in Somerset in the 70s and 80s and beyond. Katalin & Jacquelyn perform a varied programme including JS Bach: Sonata in C minor, Bartok: Romanian Dances and works by Grieg and Cesar Cui.  Katalin leads the acclaimed Kertesz String Quartet who specialise in authentic performances of 18th century repertoire on period instruments. Midsomer Choral Society Spring Concert

Midsomer Choral Society perform Haydn's joyous Te Deum no.2 in C, together with his 'Sturm und Drang' motet, Insanae et vanae curae and Parry's Blest Pair of Sirens. Victoria Wiltshire, winner of Rotary's talent competition, performs solos including Puccini: O Mio Babbino Caro. Tickets £5 on the door.

Handel: Acis & Galatea - a 'pay what you think it's worth' opera

Following on from the success of Purcell's Dido & Aeneas in June 2015, Bath Consort are performing Handel's opera, Acis & Galatea, with professional soloists and with Midsomer Choral Society providing the chorus. The performance will take place in the fine acoustic of the Studio, Victoria Hall. Seats can be reserved via Ticketsource.

The Trio play an entirely Classical programme of Mozart, Haydn and their contemporaries, including piano trio movements as well as arrangements of well-known pieces such as Boccherini's Minuet from String Quartet in C. Coffee Concert, Limpley Stoke Village Hall

A recital by Oscar Tabor (violin) & Jacquelyn Bevan (piano), to include JS Bach Chaconne, sonata movements by Grieg and Schubert, and Ravel Tzigane. Free entry with retiring collection in aid of St Mary's Church, Limpley Stoke, restoration appeal.

Oscar (17) started playing violin at the age of six. Until the age of 13 he was taught by Dr Robert Jacoby and then by Karin Leishman of the Alberni Quartet and since 2013 by Clive Hughes. He is a former member of the South West Youth Orchestra and since 2013 he has played with the Dorset Chamber Orchestra. He made his debut as soloist with that orchestra in 2011 and has since played in recitals for the Cossington Circle and at the Bath Festival ‘Party in the City’. Oscar will be studying violin at the Royal Northern College of Music from September this year. Oscar plays an 1891 William Atkinson violin with a bow by Richard Weichold of Dresden. Baroque vocal and instrumental ensemble Bath Consort comprise: Julia O'Connor (soprano), Marie Elliott (mezzo soprano), Matthew Spring (theorbo), Jacquelyn Bevan (keyboard) and Cressida Nash (cello).  'Streams of Pleasure' is a collection of vocal solos and duets from Handel's oratorios, along with works by Vivaldi, Purcell and Monteverdi. Purcell's tragic masterpiece, with Marie Elliott (Dido), Andrew Havers (Aeneas) and Julia O'Connor (Belinda), Bath Consort / Kertesz Quartet, and Bath Cantata Group directed by Neil Moore, is here performed in a semi-staged version. Wind and piano ensemble 'E flat' present a programme of music by Beethoven, Reinecke and others, with a performance of a rarely heard but exciting, jazz-inspired sextet by the Dutch composer, Leo Smit, who perished in the holocaust. Our October concert has the sea as its theme - with sea shanties, folk tunes, jazz and classical pieces, played by the Syrinx Trio, with Petra, Charlie (11) and Ellen (10) Schofield reading poems about the sea.
