Midsomer Choral Society

Established in 2014, Midsomer Choral Society has quickly established itself,

performing three main concerts each year. Works performed since the choir's

inception include Fauré Requiem, Vivaldi Gloria,

JS Bach Wachet Auf, Mozart Requiem, Haydn Nelson Mass and Te Deum no.2

in C, Handel Acis & Galatea and Zadok the Priest, Purcell Ode to St Cecilia,

and Handel Messiah (Pt 1).









Neil Moore took over as musical director in September 2017 and the choir

continues to go from strength to strength.

Accompanied by Alan Burgess, Midsomer Choral meets to rehearse on

Sunday evenings September - July 6.45 - 8.15pm at St John's Church Hall,

Midsomer Norton BA3 2HZ map

Summer Opera 2019 Sunday, 21 July 2019, 4–8pm with a break for supper

Handel Theodora at St Andrew's Church, Mells.

Come and enjoy Handel's favourite work, Theodora, in the beautiful

surroundings of St Andrew's Church in Mells. Following on from lat year's

sell-out opera, Midsomer Choral returns to Mells to perform this great work. 

Theodora (HWV 68) is a dramatic oratorio in three acts by George Frideric

Handel, set to an English libretto by Thomas Morell. The oratorio concerns

the Christian martyr Theodora and her Christian-converted Roman lover,


It had its first performance at Covent Garden Theatre on 16 March 1750.

We are a small, friendly choir and welcome new members. There is no

audition, but you should be able to sing in tune. The ability to read music

is an advantage but not absolutely essential.
